Puma spotted in Santiago, Chile

When the streets go quiet and humans stay indoors, animals wander back into cities.

During the early hours of today, a puma was spotted in Providencia and Ñuñoa neighborhoods in Santiago, Chile. It is thought he came down from the mountains looking for food and could roam deep into the city because of the curfew.

Staff from Chile's Agricultural Inspection Service (SAG) captured the 35kg young male at 9am using a tranquilizer dart. After a routine health checkup he will be returned to the wild.
